Ask Garmin: Taking nüvi for a walk

Jim’s nüvi 670, for example, has car/motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, truck, bus, emergency and taxi options (almost as many choices as there are free vehicle icons in the Garmin Garage).

Garmin blogger Jake found this menu handy when he was in Italy last fall. While strolling through Venice – where cars are scarce, twists are everywhere, paper maps are meaningless and the deadends have no warnings – nüvi’s pedestrian mode was a lifesaver when it was time to find the train station (and gelato along the route).

Send us your question with "Ask Garmin" in the subject line, and check back each week for more answers. Until then, turn on pedestrian mode and take a hike.
