AERO 2016: Awards, Red Bull Pilots, a Musician & More!

The first two days of this year’s AERO Friedrichshafen show in Germany have been full of excitement around the Garmin booth. With guest appearances by Garmin ambassadors, awards ceremonies for our latest products, and seminars covering everything from portable products to our most advanced avionics, there hasn’t been a dull moment.

On Wednesday, Red Bull Air Race pilots Pete McLeod and Hannes Arch took a break from pre-race preparations in Spielberg, Austria, to fly into AERO. The duo departed Spielberg in Arch’s black Robinson helicopter and landed at the former zeppelin air base near the event, just in time to give a presentation on flying like a Red Bull pilot, and sign autographs for admiring fans.

Thursday, German musician, pilot and Garmin ambassador Smudo spent some time at the show answering questions and signing autographs at our booth. Smudo flies a Piper Seneca in Europe equipped with our GTN 750/650, Flight Stream and Garmin Pilot products.

We’ve taken home two awards from the show so far, including flieger magazine’s Best 8.33 kHz Radio award in our GTR 225 comm radio, and aerokurier’s award for Best Flight Display with our G3000 integrated flight deck. With two days left in the show, there’s still plenty of time to check out our latest products and seminars. For a complete seminar schedule, click here.
