2018 Airshow Guide: Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In & AERO Friedrichshafen
April is here. That means more daylight, warmer temperatures and the unofficial kickoff to another airshow season. After a long, cold winter at the Garmin HQ on the outskirts of Kansas City, we’re ready to share our exciting new products and technology with the aviation community.
Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In and Expo: April 10-15, 2018
This year in Lakeland, Florida, we’ll be showing off our latest touchscreen flight displays—the G500/G600 TXi series. Replacing our popular G500/G600 glass flight displays, TXi offers pilots a powerful primary flight display, multi-function display or engine information system. Available in a 10.6-inch landscape orientation, or 7-inch portrait and landscape options, TXi offers pilots a modular building block concept to create an impressive array of PFD/MFD/EIS functions and formats.

Additionally, we’ll have our ADS-B solutions on hand—including the GDL 82 datalink—our most economical way to equip for NextGen airspace, along with our new GDL 52 series of portable SiriusXM/ADS-B receivers. Our cost-effective retrofit autopilot solutions, GFC 500 and GFC 600, will also be on display along with the powerful, yet compact G5 electronic flight instrument. In fact, we’ll be showing off a classic Cessna 172 equipped with our GFC 500 autopilot and dual G5’s. If you’re still in the research stage of your avionics modernization plan, be sure to check out our daily seminars (Tuesday-Saturday) highlighting everything from our D2 Charlie pilot watch and flying with a tablet using Garmin Pilot, up through our certificated avionics and autopilot upgrades. All Garmin seminars will be held in tent N11 located between Hangar D and the flight line.

AERO Friedrichshafen: April 18-21, 2018
The following week across the Atlantic in Friedrichshafen, Germany, we’ll be showing off many of the same exciting new products. Haven’t upgraded to 8.33kHz yet for European airspace? That’s okay, better late than never, we’ll have our options on hand including the GTN 750/650 touchscreen series along with the economical GTR 225 comm radio.
Additionally, Garmin ambassadors Simone Moro—adventurer and record-breaking helicopter pilot—along with SMUDO—musician and pilot—will stop by our exhibit during the week to visit with fans and sign autographs.
